Creative office space ideas
Not every business can afford a swanky, state of the art office, but there are still plenty of ways to be creative with your office design and make best use of the space at the same time.
Where people sit, have meetings, and even eat can have an impact on the productivity and morale, so it makes good business sense to pay it attention if you are moving office or reorganising your workspace.
Use the space to express your personality
Your company’s personality should reveal itself through your office space. Decide first what impression you want to give to the outside world, i.e. formal, traditional, cool, trendy, forward-thinking and work with your office fit-out company to identify cost-effective and creative ways to incorporate your company’s personality into the design. Don’t forget to incorporate your brand identify too by using versions and shapes of your logo on large empty wall space so that visitors instantly recognise you when they walk into your office.
Use light and space efficiently
Lighting influences everyday operations but also worker comfort and effectiveness. It's important to make best use of natural light sources when designing an office space by positioning workspace close to windows and avoid blocking the windows with any furniture.
Incorporate Flexibility
Offices typically have too much circulation space, a lot of unnecessary storage space and too many desks that are not regularly utilised. As with all flexible work spaces, those that aim to reorganise space need to involve the people who inhabit it, how they use it and how often they use it, so be sure to involve your staff to understand how best to layout your space. A flexible office space needs to include an area for break out, informal meetings and brainstorming. You should also consider touch-down areas for when mobile employees need to work for a short period.
First impressions count
The reception area is the first impression visitors get of your business, so it’s important to use this area to promote your business as well as project an image of a welcoming, buzzing workplace. Keep your reception looking clean and tidy and ensure a comfortable seating area for your guests.
