How to plan your office space wisely
If you are about to move office, one of the biggest tasks you will be faced with when you move into your new office lease space is the layout. If you are moving to much larger premises, it may require a considerable amount of time and thought to make sure that you get the office layout correct, after all, you and your colleagues are going to spend a considerable amount of time in it. One of the best ways to ensure the perfect office layout is to hire an office designer who will be able to meet with you and provide you with detailed plans and suggestions on the best way to utilise your new space. However, if you are on a budget and need to plan the layout yourself, it is important to take a few key things into consideration.
Plan your space wisely
It is of utmost importance to make sure you utilise every area of work space effectively, after all premises are expensive so maximising usable work space will ultimately save you money. A poorly planned office will be inefficient and in some cases could add to low staff moral and more absentees.
Taking the following elements into consideration is essential:
- Identify the working relationships between groups and individuals.
- Decide which areas of the office, if any will be enclosed and which parts, if any will be open plan.
- Designate your meeting areas.
- Plan the space and storage required for each job function.
- Consider the technical and facilities requirements for each job function.
- Consider an area for staff to take breaks, make refreshments etc.
- Consider areas for expansion and consolidation in each department or throughout the company as a whole.
Office furniture
Office furniture plays a key role in accounting for the room taken up within a new office. If you are struggling with space, choosing space saving furniture could be the answer. There are plenty of companies offering new system office furniture that is designed for this very purpose, and whilst you might have to spend a bit more money initially, in the long run you may find it a more profitable option.
