Manage your Office Relocation Team
Organising an office move is a huge task, so it is well worth making a plan of how you can involve your staff and co-workers to lessen the burden of managing everything yourself. As the saying goes, many hands (really do) make light work, and you may find that working as a team during an office relocation can help to strengthen working relationships.
There are many steps you can take to create effective management of the tasks involved in an office move, below is a few suggestions on how to manage your staff and co-workers efficiently.
Identify staff
Pick out co-workers which you believe would make the most effective project managers of a team and assign each of them to a different task. Make sure each team has a back-up team leader just in case the person assigned falls ill or is unavailable on the big day.
Identify technical teams
You will need to create a specialist IT team to cover each aspect of your IT relocation. Five of the key areas which should be covered are listed below:
- Computer team – responsible for every aspect of PCs before and after the move.
- Testing team – responsible for testing all of the work stations once you have moved and set up in the new office lease space.
- Data back-up team – responsible for the back-up of all your data prior to your office move.
- Printer team – responsible for installing and configuring all of the printers in your new office space.
- Network team – responsible for the network equipment and testing of this equipment after the move has taken place.
Employee teams
Once all of the above teams have been successfully established, it is a good idea to create an employee team to deal with any employee related issues during the office move. It is of utmost importance that employees remain fully briefed throughout the move so that the moral of team members remains high. After all, the happier your teams are, the more willing they will be to pull together and make the move as stress-free as possible for you.
