Office Move Day Checklist
Everyone knows that moving is stressful. A relocation can present disruptions to your business on a number of levels, particularly if the move has not been properly planned. Using an Office Move Checklist will help you plan and execute all the important events in the run up to the move, and help you get well prepared for the move day itself. Below are some important items to add your office move checklist that often get overlooked to ensure your move day runs smoothly:
Office Removals Company
The most important part of the move day is communication and coordination with your Office Removals Company. A reputable removals company will effectively ‘hold fort’ on the move day and direct timings. They’ll need your full support and clear access. If you are moving during a working day, make sure you have a cut-off time for your staff to stop working so it leaves the decks clear for your office removals company to carry out their tasks efficiently.
Access & Parking
Liaise with building managers at both locations to ensure your office removals company has the required access they need. This will include delegated parking as close to the property as possible, and clear access to the building, lifts and stairs throughout the course of the day. If necessary, you may need to gain permission from the local council for a street parking permit whilst the removals van is being loaded / unloaded.
Power & Utilities
Make sure your new office has full connectivity in terms of electricity and water. You will need these to be fully connected and tested prior to move day to avoid any delays to your move.
IT & Telecoms
Re-connecting your phones and computer equipment in the new office is undoubtedly one of the more complex aspects of an office relocation. Make sure you have a systematic plan in place to test all equipment one it’s in situ. We recommend using an IT Relocation Company to handle this critical aspect of the move on your behalf and have them available on-site on the move day itself to troubleshoot any issues on your behalf. Finally, make sure you communicate office move day arrangements with your staff. They need to be kept in the loop about moving day arrangements so they can schedule their work around the move and help keep key clients informed.
