Office Move Day Instructions
Office Move Planning Guidelines
Moving office can be a disruptive time for your company so you need to be doing everything you can to eradicate the chance of making some basic office relocation mistakes.
IT Equipment
These days the entire IT Infrastructure is central to a company's ability to operate so particular attention needs to be paid to its migration to your new office. What's more it's expensive so you need to make sure it is looked after properly. Organise an IT Relocation Company to pack, unpack and set up your computers and telephones. Think about troubleshooting your IT equipment, telephone lines and internet connection as this will save time (and stop your staff twiddling their thumbs when their computers don’t work at the new office). Do not go solo on this, it will backfire! Reference the IT Relocation Checklist for full details of how to handle this key part of your office move properly.
Staff Involvement Throughout The Office Move
Get your staff involved by putting together an Office Relocation Management Team. Put them in charge of making sure that their teams and departments comply with the overall move plan. Their intimate knowledge of their own area of responsibility will mean that any "detail" doesn't get overlooked. Once you are in your new office get them to look for any faults or repairs that need to be rectified.
Clear The Decks
The last thing you need is your staff interupting when the move itself is being carried out. Get your staff to arrange meetings around your move day - and make sure that only essential staff are in the office.
Office Clearance
When you move office you will in no doubt be drowning in boxes and rubbish, make sure you have a Waste Disposal Action Plan in place. Start your unpacking as soon as you can, your staff will not be productive in an unorganised environment. You will need to dispose of cardboard boxes and bubble wrap so give yourself time do this. Bonus Tip
Once you have packed the last box it is all too easy to think that your office move has come to an end. But it hasn't! Once the move has happened you should turn your focus on to things you can do to reduce the running costs of your business.
Review Your Suppliers
When you move office it is a great time to review your current service suppliers. Consider trying out suppliers who are based locally to your new office as they may be able to provide a more cost-effective service than your existing provider. Whether you decide to evaluate your energy suppliers, office cleaners, sandwich supplier or stationary providers it is always good to see what is out there, you could get a better rate and save money.
