Help Moving Office is the brainchild of Jeremy Carr-Smith who, after more than 15 years in the commercial property market, believes too many businesses are throwing away precious time, money and resources simply by not planning their move in a strategic and organised fashion.
Now he has developed www.HelpMovingOffice.co.uk, the specialist online resource to guide companies through the stresses and strains of an office move. It aims to streamline the process by providing access to free information and resources – including guides, tools and checklists.
Carr-Smith's own research shows that in around three quarters of office relocations, the person tasked with handling the move is doing so for the first time, leaving them with a real disadvantage in terms of knowing how the process works and what needs to be done.
In addition, 9 times out of 10, they will have to juggle the moving project on top of their existing role, with the result that they will struggle to find the time to fulfil either job to full potential.
"I've always been concerned that many companies do not give enough strategic and operational thought to the whole moving office process," said Carr-Smith. "After their employees, property costs are the highest expenditure for most businesses yet we see the same mistakes been made time and time again. Primarily, they underestimate what is involved with an office relocation, they don't start the process early enough and they have a misplaced belief that they can save money by not engaging the services of external professional help. This is a false economy and, as a result, many office moves end up being a time-consuming and stressful job fraught with difficulty and expensive mistakes that could have been avoided."
