Office Removals Checklist - hiring the right removals company
When selecting an office removals company, it can be tempting to hire the company that comes in with the cheapest quote (and some companies will, no doubt, offer a very attractive low price indeed). But beware of the old adage that you get what you pay for ....
You should take seriously the responsibility that you will be handing over to the company that you hire to do your office removals. At the end of the day, you will be inviting in people that you don’t know into your office (usually after hours and often unsupervised). They will have access to all sort of expensive equipment and potentially sensitive data. If you look at it in that light then you wouldn’t let any old person into your office. Would you?
The best advice is to start by thinking about the end game of what you are wanting to achieve in your office removals. And we would suggest that this needs to be that all of your office equipment needs to be properly and safely disconnected, dismantled and packed – moved from one office to another – and then reconnected, assembled and unpacked (again properly and safely) in the right locations of your new office so that everything is up, ready-to-go and fully working in your new office.
With the above in mind, it follows that you should think twice before choosing either a "man with a van" or a company who don’t have the experience or ability to take on an office move.
The 2 key things you should put on your Office Removals Checklist for hiring the right Office Removals company are:
1. Always choose a company that specialise in office moves
You will probably have gathered that we don’t recommend getting a “man with a van” – but you should also think twice about hiring a house moving company to do your office removals. They are different skill sets and require different equipment and experience. The best – and safest – decision you can make is to work with a Removals Company who is BAR (British Association of Removers) accredited.
All BAR accredited members meet stringent criteria and they are regularly inspected to ensure that their vehicles, staff and equipment meet the required standards. By hiring a BAR member you can have confidence that your office move will be carried out by a company that has the necessary experience, equipment and insurance cover to move your business professionally.
2. Get the 3 Quotes that best practice dictates
At the end of the day, you know you have done your due diligence if you get 3 quotes from reputable companies that specialise in doing office moves. Your decision should then be shaped by which company you believe has the relevant experience and expertise to take on your specific office removals.
