Office Space Planning Process
Your newly found office space will be a "blank canvas" from which you can create an effective office space plan that increases employee productivity, maximises your office space and improves overall performance. So it's well worth taking the time to decide on the right office space plan and maximise every square foot available to your benefit.
The right office space plan goes far beyond deciding who sits where and where the photocopier goes, it requires strategic planning and careful research before any proposals can be made. Here's what you can expect from the Office Space Planning Process.
Office Space Planning - Phase 1 - Information Gathering
Before an Office Fit-Out Company can make any proposals, they need to get to know you as a company, as a brand, and your unique working practices. Your Office Fit-Out Company will gather all this information by carrying out what is called a Workplace Appraisal. They'll spend time observing how your staff work in the current office, interview individual staff and carry out an assessment for each workstation. If you are expanding, downsizing or reorganising the way you work in the new office, this will be taken into account and implemented into the new office space plan.
Office Space Planning - Phase 2 - New Office Assessment
A tour of your new office will enable your Office Fit-Out Company to establish the best layout and location of workstations, IT infrastructure, as well as other office facilities. This will also enable them to get a more approximate idea about costings and timeframe.
Office Space Planning - Phase 3 - Visual Proposals
During this phase, your Office Fit-Out Company will come up with some visualisations of how the new office should be laid out. These are usually provided using 3D CAD drawings so you can get a real impression of space, colour and design.
Office Space Planning - Phase 4 - Sign-Off
The sign off phase gives your Office Fit-Out Company the go ahead to order the materials, new office furniture and commence the fit-out works. From a space planning perspective, remember that a good office space plan is a flexible one, so it allows you to make changes throughout the process and as your business grows. There will undoubtedly be some re-shuffling when you are settled in your new office to accommodate employee and team requirements.
