Packing for your Office Move
If you are about to move offices, you may be daunted by the amount of packing that is required. There are plenty of office removal companies designed to help make your office relocation run as smoothly as possible, many of which can provide you with assistance well in advance of your move date to make sure that you have everything packed and in order on time. To help remind you of what you should be doing in anticipation of an office move, we’ve listed a few points below to get you started.
Packing
It is a good idea to plan in advance the type of packaging you will require for storage of office materials during an office relocation. Most office removal companies will provide packing crates which can be left with you several days in advance of your move date, or there are plenty of companies online which sell a variety of boxes to suit all types of office move.
Emptying furniture
If you are situated in a large office there will be plenty of filing cabinets, drawers and cupboards to empty in anticipation of your move. Make sure that you thoroughly empty any cabinets and lock them before they are moved, or if you cannot lock them, secure with tape to prevent any accidents.
Labelling items
It is a good idea to label your desks, tables and chairs if your employees are keen to retain the same ones after the office move. If any large furniture needs to be partly-dismantled, label each section to make it much easier and quicker to put back together once inside your new premises.
Removing shelving units
If you need to dismantle any shelving units, it is advisable to leave this in the hands of your office removal company who will more than likely be able to provide a carpenter or joiner to handle the dismantling and assembling of shelving, providing clearance has been given by the manufacturer.
Office machinery
Check in advance if the machines in your office such as printers and photocopiers are rented or owned by the company. If you are renting any equipment you will need to contact the hire company in advance to arrange for it to be taken away prior to the office move.
