Preparing an Office Fit-Out Budget
Office Fit-Out Budget Costs
The nature of any office fit out project will be broadly governed by what your company is prepared to spend on designing and equipping a new office space. And before you can begin to put an office fit out budget in place, you need to make some decisions as to the type of office fit out project you require.
CAT B office fit out – this is the most common type of office fit out and is usually when the new office space is just a “blank canvas” with only the basics (such as flooring, walls, ceilings, electrical services etc) installed – the rest of the space you make your own.
CAT A office fit out is when the office space is in a bad state of repair and /or requires rebuilding with repair and reinstatement of walls, ceilings etc.
These elements need to be considered when you are viewing potential office properties as the type of office you chose will dictate the type of office fit out that is required - and all these need to be factored into your overall Moving Office Budget.
Another important process you will need to go through is undertaking a Workplace Appraisal. This can be done by an Office Fit out Company, and involves a detailed analysis of your current and future business objectives, how you intend to use the office space and other important office space requirements.
Once the Office Fit out Company has seen the proposed office space and discussed your office fit-out requirements with you, they will then put together an approximate Office fit-out costing.
Their fees usually include everything from installing mechanical & electrical services, lighting installation, office furniture, partitioning, contractor fees & painting etc. Basically, office fit out costs cover anything that’s going to turn an empty office space into a functional, attractive and inspiring place to work.
Office fit-out costs are usually provided on a per sq. ft. basis so the size of your office space will be an important determining factor. Once the cost of the Office Fit out project has been agreed, add the figure to your Moving Office Budget and check in with your Office Fit out company on a regular basis to ensure the project is being delivered on time and to the specified budget.
